Frequently Asked Questions
At Kestrel & Pine Woodworks, we believe in transparency and craftsmanship. Here are answers to some of the most common questions we receive about our process and how to care for your heirloom pieces.
Our Process & Ordering
What is the typical lead time for a custom piece?
Lead times vary depending on the complexity of the design and our current queue. Generally, you can expect a timeline of 8 to 12 weeks from finalizing the design to delivery. We will provide a more accurate estimate during our initial consultation.
What types of wood do you work with?
We primarily work with domestic hardwoods such as walnut, white oak, cherry, and hard maple. We love highlighting the natural grain and character of the wood, and can source specific or reclaimed lumber upon request.
Do you offer delivery and installation?
Yes, we offer local white-glove delivery and installation within a 100-mile radius of our workshop. For clients outside this area, we partner with trusted freight carriers to ensure your piece arrives safely.
Care & Maintenance
How do I care for my wood furniture?
Avoid placing your furniture in direct sunlight or near heating vents to prevent warping or fading. For regular cleaning, simply wipe with a soft, damp cloth. We recommend applying a high-quality furniture wax or oil once a year to nourish the wood and maintain its luster.
Are water rings permanent?
Most white water rings are in the wax or finish, not the wood itself. Often, they can be buffed out with a soft cloth. For deeper marks, a light reapplication of wax or a specific wood cleaner can resolve the issue. Always use coasters to protect the surface.
